On August 23rd it will be six months since I opened THEA too my Etsy component shop, with absolutely no idea whether I'd sell anything and very little in the way of targets or expectations. In the event I was blown away by the response in those first few weeks and it took a good while to stop myself thinking that the bubble would burst at an moment. I've had to work hard to develop my range and keep my jewellery design going at the she time (those of you with shops will no all that that entails) but I've had a great time doing it.
A few weeks ago I was thinking about all this and what a great achievement it would be if I could celebrate six months of trading by reaching 500 sales...was that possible? Well, thanks to my wonderful and ever growing band of customers and friends who have encouraged, inspired and cajoled me, I sailed past that figure last weekend just a little ahead of schedule and I'm 'over the moon' about it. It's still early days I know but I think it's cause enough for a little celebration so, I'm having a giveaway with the chance to win £25 (approx. $40) worth of goods from one of my shops. The winner can either choose components to the value of £25 to use in their own creations...
Or they can choose a piece of ready made jewellery - entirely their choice. The pictures are just examples of my work and the winner will be able
to choose anything from one of the shops to the value of £25 or, a higher value
and pay the balance.
A small sample of my components... |
All you have to do to enter is answer a question for me... just leave a comment here telling me what your favourite kind of jewellery component is. Are you passionate about pendants, crazy for clasps, bonkers about bracelet bars...or is there something else that gets your fingers twitching uncontrollably over that 'buy' button? Whatever it is I'd like to know.
Once you've done that you can get extra entries by sharing this giveaway on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter etc. or by becoming a follower of The Gossiping Goddess or liking my Facebook page. Be sure to leave a comment for each thing you do to get you extra entries.
The giveaway will end at 8pm British Summer Time on Saturday 25th August and I will select a winner using Random.org.
So good luck and thank you very much for coming on this journey with me.
Lesley
I absolutely love anything a bit different or unusual. I recently pursuaded hubby to buy me a sterling silver nurses belt buckle, the old fashioned sort, all ornate and gorgeous! Those sort of finds get my heart pounding and my credit cards itching!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I’ll kick this off then! I love everything about jewellery but if I had to pick then its charms.. no wait...pendants....no....findings... no....CONNECTORS! That’s it connectors, love them! Lesley your jewellery is beautiful, your components are dazzling, I love everything you make. Congratulations on your 500 sales before your 6 months were up but to be honest I'm not surprised. Well done!! And thank you for being such an inspiration to me of late! Claire xx
ReplyDeletePS don't need to be entered just happy taking part.
Last Christmas, one of the gifts my daughter gave me was a pink/black macrame bracelet....Love it...
ReplyDeleteSo much so, l then asked her to make me some more.
All pink/white....Different designs. In fact she made me four more. Wearing them at the weekends, people notice them, and comment. I have jokingly said to her, make me a lot more, l'd wear them all, on one forearm, and just sell them off at a fiver a time.....! :).
But, l do like bracelets...Especially the chunky ones.....!
Perhaps you'd like to take a peek at my daughters etsy shop.....Has'nt been going long.....
www.etsy.com/shop/chunkyfunkyrocks
My favorite type of component is something that has many possibilities.... one that I can layer with something else to make something fabulous. Thanks for a great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI facebooked the giveaway...
ReplyDeletei tweeted the giveaway...
ReplyDeleteI am crazy about clasps. I love finding something very different. If it is natured inspired all the better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Leslie for this opportunity to win something really yummy!
My top ten -
ReplyDelete1. Beads
2. Beads
3. Beads
4. Clasps - toggle
5. Earring wires/headpins that are different
6. More beads
7. Pendants
8. Ribbon by Claire B
9. Anything with a sea theme
10. And last but never least - yes, you guessed it - beads!
Lesley, you are an inspiration and I am not at all surprised you are where you are
WOW, congrats on hitting 500 so fast! I love toggle clasps and connectors for making jewelry. Would love to win this and get some of your gorgeous creations!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have the components.. but then again The jewelry is divine. So I would just Be honored to have won anything. Congratulations on the 500 Sales! It must feel wonderful! I will be posting this on my blog today and will share it on my FB wall right now.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog
ReplyDeleteI really like finding new stones that I've not used before in my pieces....hehehe I'm typing like I've been doing this forever.... I've been making jewelry about a year or two now. I started out just beading with elastic cord and plastic beads.... A couple of weeks ago I bought a copper disk and actually made designs on a component that I incorporated into a project I was working on. Wallah, a whole new look. So right now at this moment I am loving some components....I still love to find great beads too.....can't forget about those beads, stones, gems.......
ReplyDeleteLesley, all your work is lovely, but those PENDANTS...ooo la la! Thank you for the opportunity to enter. I also tweeted and liked your FB page. Congrats & best wishes for continued success!~ Tammie Everly
ReplyDeleteFollowing The Gossiping Goddess on Google....so excited. I can't wait to see what I can learn from your site....thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I like a lot of things, but I seem to buy a lot of pendants and charms. I've been meaning to branch out and buy some connectors too, maybe one of these days! Oh, my email, should you need it, is melissa_trudinger at yahoo dot com.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I recently started following your blog via Google Reader,
ReplyDeleteAnd I've followed your page on Faceblook too!
ReplyDeleteCOmponents are like potato chips - I CAN'T HAVE JUST ONE!!! lol....I like them all equally just like my children....lol
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Lesley. Truly inspiring success story. I just received my order of components, and they are even more fabulous than in your photos. Each is a small masterpiece! Handmade clasps and buttons really get my heart beating.
ReplyDeleteFrom your shop, I love your bracelet bars! I just got my shipment from you, and I can't wait to make something great! I reaccly love connectors, also, because they are so versatile, earrings, clasp, pendent- whatever you want!
ReplyDeleteI liked your FB page!(actually, a while ago, but I hope it helps with this.)
ReplyDeleteShared on FB!
ReplyDeleteI liked your FB page.
ReplyDeleteI fancy your toggles, but I love just about everything ;-D Some of your necklaces are to-die-for!!!
ReplyDeleteNot surprised re. the sales, but certainly congrats. I'm a follower already. My favorite piece from you has been your nandina charms--I kept those for ME! Components with texture are what grab me, especially leafy or curvy textures that are not centered (and kind of run off the page). Best of luck for many more sales in both shops.
ReplyDeleteYou're already well-liked on FB.
ReplyDeleteI've been posting you all over Pinterest since my first order from you, too.
ReplyDeleteWhen I buy handmade components I favor toggles, but anything one of a kind or something I've never seen before is what I tend to buy. If I like a pieces I'll find a way to use it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Lesley! That's a wonderful success story and makes me happy to hear it. I am wishing you many many more months and years of joyful making. Interesting question what's my favorite component. Over the last few months I've made zero jewelry but I'd have to say I like connectors because you can use them in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteCONTGRATULATIONS! I had no doubt you could and would do it my friend! I go ga-ga for charms and clasps and headpins, yep those are my favorites and if they are handmade then all the better!
ReplyDeleteClink ( that is the champagne glass)
Here is to another 500 sales!!
Cilla
Congrats! I am so happy for you! You deserve the success. I love your disc beads. I want you to make more textures in your disc beads. And make them 20-25mm please so I can spend more money. PS~I hope I win!
ReplyDeleteI especially love versatile components, like two holed beads.
ReplyDeleteI always look for pieces I can use as focals in macrame bracelets, but I usually end up buying pendants just because I love them:) I would SOOOOO love to win something from your shop (either one!) - I've been a fan for along time. Love your style.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I wasn't a follower of your blog (gasp!) - but I am now! By email, too:)
ReplyDeleteI copied your giveaway link to my FB page-Nancy Saccoccio. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI also shared this great giveaway with my jewelry FB page- Rising designs! Thanks Lesley!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your success! I like them all; beads, handmade components and vintage anything. Really it's difficult to choose just one, but I have to say lampwork beads and metal components are what I spend the most money on.
ReplyDeleteLesley, of all the reasons I need to open a shop, having a bead fund so I can buy your components is at the top of the list! I love the unique look of your pieces. For me, as a seed beader, your clasps are number one, but I do love the pendants and bracelet bars as well. I'm so very thrilled for your success, and wish you much more in the future!
ReplyDeleteWell, I also blogged on Rising Designs.blogspot.com, thus decreasing my chances-again.
ReplyDeleteI am already a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteAlready 'liked' your fb page as well. Now to just cross all my fingers and toes...
ReplyDeleteFirst of all...CONGRATULATIONS! As a hoarder, I mean collector, of your components, I can personally attest to how absolutly gorgeous every single item is!! My favorite...hmmm, I have two....I would have to say head pins and toggles! No wait...connectors....it is impossible to make a choice! Okay..toggles... seriously, I am so happy for you! :)
ReplyDeletePendants will always be my firstvlove, though buttons and clasps are second. Thank you for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Lesley - I have been watching your progress and think it's wonderful. You have every right to be proud. What I like the best -hmm - I guess it would be clasps because you can do so much with them. Then of course there would be beads!
ReplyDeleteI am a FB follower.
ReplyDeleteHi!!! Wonderful give away!!! Thanks, for the opportunity!!! I love earring components ...interesting dangles ...little nifty bits to dangle from a necklace, bracelet or earrings.
ReplyDeleteI am now following your blog :))
Congrats on reaching 500 sales!
ReplyDeleteI tend to drool over just about every component out there-can't help it I have a bead addiction! If I had to select one I would say toggle clasps, especially decorative ones that can be used as a focal piece. The larger, the better too.
Thanks you for the awesome giveaway!
Posted to my FB page :))
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 500 sales. I love anything that you do. Your work is fantastic. As a jewelry maker I think nice clasps are my favorite thing. I don't work as much with focal beads but I love them and bracelet bars are awesome too. I am a FB follower and I also follow your blog.
ReplyDeleteLiked your FB page :))
ReplyDeleteI love natural stones. Usually the ones that catch my eye are cut and polished. I will post on my FB page. thanks for asking, this is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower also. :)
ReplyDeleteGuessing by the amount of beads I currently have, I'd have to say that beads are my favorite jewelry component. Especially lampwork & ceramic beads!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of your blog & have liked you on FB as well!
ReplyDeleteI like bead caps!!! crazy but true!
ReplyDeleteI just signed up to follow your blog
ReplyDeleteClasps, headpins and charms. Love them! Especially clasps I think - it's so easy to just stick a generic, factory-made clasp on a piece and a handmade piece just makes all the difference. Yours, Jo's and green girl studios are my faves!
ReplyDeleteI just liked your Facebook page, too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a very successful first 6 months!!! I'm not playing since I won last time but I will put this on my facebook.
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway..
ReplyDeletei love clasps
following your blog too
ReplyDeleteI love all the components. If I had to choose just one I would have to say a the focal pieces. I just love them.
ReplyDeletePendants are studPENdous!!
ReplyDeleteToggles-silver or copper.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You are very talented!
ReplyDeleteI love unusual and unique beads, clasps and buttons!
I follow you on facebook and your blog.

ReplyDeleteI am delighted to now follow your blog posts.
ReplyDeleteI love unusual clasps which can be worn round the front. Thank you for the giveaway x
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for this opportunity Leslie, very generous. I am crazy about bracelet bars! Its actually an obsession. I am hoarding so many artisan bracelet pieces right now, but I know I will eventually get to them. I just had to HAVE them! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have shared on the fb.
ReplyDeleteI love anything that can send my creativity sailing and your components are amazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally shared on FB!!!!! Friend me please!!!
ReplyDeleteI like clasps :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow Lesley, has it been six months already? My how time flies! Congratulations! You know that I am one of your fans I love your components and my favorites are your toggles. I just love using them in my pieces. They set the piece off in my opinion. I really like using toggles on bracelets, they are easy to close and open with one hand.
ReplyDeleteI also love all things beady, because without beady items I would have nothing to use those fabulous toggles on.
Therese
I shared on Facebook!
ReplyDeleteTherese
Congratulations on your sales Lesley, they are well deserved!
ReplyDeleteI think my favourite components are connectors :D
For my favourite component I have to say plain simply ... beads. Of all possible kinds. But mostly Art Beads.
ReplyDeleteI really like colored cords, either waxed linen or waxed cotton.
And I like to try new beads and components that I haven't tried before. Also what is different from what I just have used in my latest piece/pieces. Like at this time for instance, I have been working lots with seed beads lately. I bet I will use large beads in a few of my coming pieces. I know I long to use chain, haven't done that for a while. And I haven't used proper pendants either for a while, so ...
I also did a blog post about your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteTherese
I am a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteI like you on FaceBook.
ReplyDeleteI am bonkers for connectors and for rings, glass, stone, metal, any type of closed ring or jump rings. I guess I just like the circle-y aspect of them, or shape-y rings, too!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I already follow your blog and like your FB page!
ReplyDeleteHello, I love your components and I have also spread the word via facebook. I am also trying to tweet it...not real experienced at that but will get it out there for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this opportunity...many more years of success!
Cheri
I managed to tweet this information and also added to my blog.
DeleteBig congrats, Lesley!!! I'm particularly partial to earring pairs. I've always love wearing and making earrings! Your work is so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteShared on my FB page.

ReplyDeleteFacebooked about it~
ReplyDeleteI love unique bindings, but when they aren't available I love clasps. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lesley - just ordered some of your beautiful clasps, urchins and bracelet bar. Also buttons I think. My favorite these days are flat bigger beads (connectors) that I can use with other art beads. I liked your FB and shared on it as well.
ReplyDeleteHi, for me it has to be components.Oh how my finger gets itchy over beautiful clasp but then again, it becomes almost insane over a pendent...running back to my blog now to add a link ..
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome give away and major congrats on your over 500 sales.
Sandy
I have "liked" your facebook page. I LOVE great toggle clasps. It's so hard to find something that's not just the same old boring toggle. I love a toggle that I can use front and center.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of anything with natural stone....and a necklace making newbie :)
ReplyDeleteI liked your facebook page.
ReplyDeleteand posted a link on fb too!
ReplyDeleteHow grand, Miss Lesley! I am so happy for you. Your components are so lovely, and I am so excited that I have some coming my way! I love bead caps of all kinds. I like to layer them. Links are fun too. And I am always seeking cool clasps. Thanks for the chance. Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteWhat a great milestone!
ReplyDeleteI have to confess-charms get me every time. I love charms. Really. A lot. Come check out my stash :)
Your goodies are great-I can't wait to get my recent order.
Congrats! And thanks for doing the givaway!
And I'm a follower of your blog!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely clasp!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the toggle clasps! Amazing talent! Everything you touch is magic!
ReplyDeleteI'm a hoarder of bead caps...really nice, unique ones will always make me hit the buy button! I'm not sure why, but maybe because I think a gorgeous art bead, paired with the right bead cap, can make a perfect piece of jewelry all in itself!
ReplyDeleteNew to making jewelry, but, when I see something that I know will thrill a friend or relative, I buy it or try to make it. Right now, the thrill is seeing how happy you can make someone special and know that you are also working towards
ReplyDeletedoing better and learning.
I'm currently loving clasps.. the eye catching 'focal- in -their-own-right' kinda clasps... the ones that are just way too pretty to be a mere 'clasp' lol
ReplyDeleteHoly moly what a fabtabulously generous giveaway. ty so much for this awesome opportunity.
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be a hard question to answer but here goes. I love charms, especially bronze ones don't know why but I do. But I am also crazy for polymer clay . I love to make my own beads. But I still but tons of beads or at least my husband thinks I do. Although I think I don't have enough beads. I am a beadaholic and need to attend bbb. lol....But I truly love all mediums and avenues of the craft. Guess I could ramble on forever but I will spare ya the grueling chore of having to read it... So bye for now and ty again for this absotively posilutely thrilling giveaway ....Happy Beading
Wow, My Dream is to go to England. you see I was born over there but my parents came back to USA when I was just over 2 years old>>> so I have longed to go see where I was born at etc etc. One day hopefully I will get to do that. We lived in a little place called Kingslynn ( back in the late 50's) Anyways I was just thinking how wonderful this opportunity is , how marvelous it would be to win and actually recieve something from England. I am so happy to be able to enter this drawing. I like all the others Love making jewelry , Although I have never made anything like yours , it's beautiful, I adore the Humming bird and flower piece above, our oldest daughters nickname as a baby was hummingbird. Thanks for this opportunity!!! So Greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeletekingslynn58@yahoo.com
I adore charms! small and cute or big and chunky, charms have so much possibility!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome giveaway and I am currently obsessed with bracelet bars. Strange I know but I am loving them for making multi strand bracelets :-)
ReplyDeleteTough choice!!! I love your toggle clasps...but I also love all your other components too- as you know especially the sea/ocean themed components :) So happy for your success!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI already like you on facebook :)
ReplyDeleteTweeted @pugbeader!
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on the project I am working on & what catches my eye. But I seriously love your pendants.. Congrats on 500.. I like you on fb as well.
ReplyDeleteI've got a serious problem when it comes to lovely textured copper or brass dangles :) So many beautiful shapes and varieties that really add an extra dimension to any design.
ReplyDeleteI liked your facebook page :) So much pretty stuff! And it's great to have a creator of artisan components this side of the pond.
ReplyDeleteI FBed
ReplyDeleteAnd FB paged it too!

ReplyDeleteLeslie - I had no idea it has only been 6 months! you seem like such a pro ... but then you've passed the 500 mark - congrats! I love all of your work - it makes my head swim with patterns and ideas. No need to enter me as I have my goodies in the mail from you ... and I can't wait to start playing with those! :)
ReplyDeleteIf I MUST pick one component,it has to be bracelet bars. Haven't come across anything artistic that makes my jaws drop! Hopefully that will inspire you to create some!!
ReplyDeletesltarnowski[at]gmail.dot.com
Shared it on FB.
ReplyDeleteHappy Super Successful Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all your gorgeous work. It would be a dream to get to pick something from either of your shops, Leslie! My favorite component is the little old headpin. Metal, glass, ceramic, polymer clay, vintage glass; if it's a headpin I start getting the shakes!! And your headpins have been on my to-buy list already...
ReplyDeleteJettabugjewelry@gmail.com
PS. shared on facebook, too :)
I just tweeted you. More to come
ReplyDeleteLeslie, you make such gorgeous stuff. So happy that it's selling well. It ought to.
ReplyDeleteI've liked you FB page, (Nanfan jewellery)
and G+ this article.
May you double your sales the next six months.
I like connectors the best - textured circles and washers alike. Oh and BEAD CAPS. YUM
All the best,
Nana

ReplyDeleteI'm stalking you on Pinterest...
ReplyDeleteI commented on Facebook....and the answer to your question is...I am a pendant junkie. Congratulations on your first six months and I hope there are many more years of success ahead for you.
ReplyDeleteLisa
I guess my favorite thing would be unusual toggle clasps--toggle clasps are much easier for these arthritic fingers to get on and off. I'd love to win this pack because I see two very nice clasps but I'd find a use for the other components also.
ReplyDeleteI also Pinned this and posted on Facebook--hope I win.
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway Lesley! And congratulations on your first six months! I adore your bronze, its just amazing! I hope I win!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a pendant addict, especially ceramic lately, but I also love the right metal - particularly bronze! I just love the feeling of a lovely pendant in my hand, the texture and weight of it!
I posted to Facebook! Thank you again for this lovely giveaway!
I like jewelry components that are unique; that's why I like your work- it's beautiful, well designed, creative, and fun. Your components make it easy to create designs for jewelry.
ReplyDeleteAs a new designer, I am slowly building up a stock of unique components. I have drooled over your Etsy offerings many times, Lesley, and your wonderful PityParty sale finally compelled me to spend some of my meagre budget LOL. I had intended to purchase clasps, my greatest weakness (as I cannot make them very well)... but of course, I couldn't pass up a couple of pendants, a charm, a bracelet bar... Let's just say I shall be well provisioned with OOAK goodies!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching an important business milestone, Lesley. I'm certain it is just the beginning of a long and fruitful Etsy relationship.
I've been a follower (albeit a quiet one) via GFC for some time.
ReplyDeleteI shared a link on FB.
ReplyDeleteI just posted about your give-away on my blog:

ReplyDeletewhoops, forgot to tell you my fav thing...hammered silver rings, disc and ads!
DeleteCongrats!! I'm a follower and truly a pendant girl through and through!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I'm pretty crazy about clasps, but I also can't stop buying bead caps. LOVE them, just can't help it!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and I'm a follower of your blog -- love it!
ReplyDeletehard question to answer! I guess my favorite component is one that can be used as a focal, either at the center or side of a necklace. That would include pendants, rings and clasps.
ReplyDeleteAnd I follow your blog.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked charms, but love my bronze rings which arrived yesterday! Have shared on personal fb page and business page too.
ReplyDeleteOops- need 2 comments as shared on 2 fb pages..
ReplyDeleteit changes, depending on what is the inspiration for what I am working on- so it can be the focal or something different in a bead or bead cap, the clasp can also be so great, that it has to be used in the front! I guess the answer would be that one unique piece and you certainly have a great selection of those!
ReplyDeleteCOngratulations Lesley!!! This is so awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite component with be connectors...versatile enough to be used in anything I like!
Once again, hearty congrats :)
I love metal components, especially bracelet connectors and charms. Your metal components are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI've also shared on Face Book :-)
ReplyDeleteI love any component that special...I am "crazy for clasps"...like them to be unique and make a statement.
ReplyDeleteYour components are fabulous!
I tweeted....

ReplyDeleteI liked you on Facebook!
ReplyDeleteI follow you, too...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 6 month anniversary and 500 sales! I love your components, but haven't bought any yet. One of my favorite jewelry components are handmade lampwork beads. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI just posted on my blog at http://kymhunterdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-gossiping-goddess-is-hosting.html
ReplyDeleteOf late, I am consumed by connectors.... have been surfing the Goddess and all your links for inspiration and creative uses of them. I've been fascinated by the metal clay process, but for now intimidated by the care and attention needed to create beautiful pieces like yours! Congrats on your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say it is a tie between pendants and components. Congrats on your anniversary...wow, 500 sales!! Your components are gorgeous! Thanks for hosting this awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteEven though I make lampwork beads, it has to be lampwork beads! I can't resist buying other poeple's - they provoke an emotional response in me!
ReplyDeleteI love pretty clasps particularly, and thanks to Kaz for FB ing this link, I will definitely like your page
ReplyDeleteWell done Lesley.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite would be penant bails, just love them.
I love colorful beads and eye-catching clasps. I already "like" your page because I think your work is gorgeous.

ReplyDelete
