The components we got to work with for this months challenge were a pair of the beautiful beaded beads made by the AJE 'Queen of Seeds' Kristen Stevens...
The beads reminded e of hedgerow fruits in various stages of ripeness and I wanted to try and portray that sense of abundance your get when everything is coming to fruition. I decided on a double strand necklace and combined Kristen's beads with a selection of matching Czech glass, including some gorgeous vintage bronze faceted glass barrels.
The back of the necklace is made up of 2 strands of farfalle beads in a dark aubergine and olive green and a handmade bronze wire clasp. the final touch is a tiny flower bead hung from the bottom of the leaf connector.
I apologise for the photos not being the best in the world...for some reason I had great difficulty getting 'unfuzzy' photos and I can only put it down to my broken ankle...that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I hope you'll join us in our little blog hop to see what the rest of the team and our guest artist did with Kristen's wonderful beads.
I chose a pair of lovely cinnamon coloured beads but I was also fortunate enough to do a little bead swap with Kristen so I actually received a whole selection of beads in beautifully coordinating tones and, because they went so beautifully with one of my patinated bronze leaf connectors I decided to use some of these too.

How very lush your necklace is Lesley! Love it! I think you absolutely captured "abundance"!
ReplyDeleteI can see you didn't let a little thing like a broken leg slow you down! What a gorgeous design. I love this soft, muted look. What a beauty!
ReplyDeleteOh Leslie!!!!! I am blown away!
ReplyDeleteLovely colors and design.
ReplyDeleteI love your necklace! I love the color palette and everything about it!
ReplyDeleteLeslie your necklace is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour leaf connector glows against the muted tones of Kristen's beads. Combined with those matte beads and touches of bronze and gold - just perfection!
ReplyDeleteLovely! These beads work so nicely with the leaf component--something seedlike and natural about them that makes them coordinate perfectly. I love how the strands of peanut beads at the end echo the nubbly texture of the beaded beads.
ReplyDeleteLesley I love the color palette and hedgerow fruits........of course! When I saw these components in the giveaway, I knew they reminded me of something but I just could not put my finger on what it was. You nailed it! This is a gorgeous piece!
ReplyDeleteOoo, that's stunning! A glut of beautiful beads.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a gorgeous necklace! I love everything about it!
ReplyDeleteSmart trade! I love your inspiration of the hedge balls. As a kid it was my job to pick them up so dad could mow. As a grownup I love to pair them with pumpkins. Your necklace is just gorgeous. I love all the different elements you put into this piece!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful...and so earthy! Great job.
ReplyDeleteThis necklace is beautiful and does show abundance!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! I am in such an earring making rut these days, this makes me want to create a necklace!
ReplyDeleteAbundance and harvest. Like seed pods ready to burst. I love that you used more of Kristen's beads - it really called attention to them, and created lusciousness.
